Entry Requirements & Equivalencies

All Students: General Admission Requirements

There are many ways for you to be eligible for KGIBC-CTC programs. You can either have:

  • A Secondary School Diploma (Grade 12); Or Equivalent, From A School Where English Is The Language Of Instruction & Administration (TESOL-Adv. & ABM Students Must Have Minimum English 12 Score Of 70%); OR

  • Completion Of An Undergraduate Degree From A School Where English Is The Language Of Instruction; OR

  • Be 18 Years Of Age Or Older On The Program Start Date AND Pass The KGIBC-CTC Entrance Exam (passing of the KGIBC-CTC exam for BC only)

International Students: English Proficiency Requirements

All International Students Must Pass The KGIBC-CTC Entrance Interview And Provide Proof Of One Of The Following:

  • Pass our entrance exam ( This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ); OR

  • Present any recognized international English language equivalency test score (for TESOL, an English Linguistics degree or equivalent may also be accepted); OR

  • Meet the minimum language proficiency requirements shown here:

Additional Program-Specific Requirements

Advanced Business Management

We recommend a current resume, a minimum of two years of post-secondary education and a minimum of one year work experience.

Tesol Advanced

Approved TESL Canada certification program. KGIBC-CTC diploma awarded upon successful completion. To apply to TESL CANADA for TESL Canada certification, students must also have a Bachelor's degree (proven equivalency from foreign countries) and language requirements set by TESL Canada.

Tesol For Children & Tesol For Middle School

A criminal record check (Schedule F) must be obtained prior to practicum. KGIBC-CTC TESOL/TESOL-Advanced, or any proven equivalent teacher training program certification, is a prerequisite of this program.

Tesol For Test Preparation & Tesol For Adults

TESOL/TESOL-Advanced, or any proven equivalent teacher training program certification, is a prerequisite of this program.
